Open Spaces

So much to see, and so much more to want to see in these wide open spaces.

Canyon Shadows

The morning shadows in the mountains are so clear and dramatic, and yet so calming.

Cascade

These rock formations look impenetrable, but the centuries since their formation have carved trail ways to be discovered by each generation of adventurers.

Painted Desert and Dawn

These paintings are a strong reminder of the red rocks and Painted Desert at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico. It’s an astonishing sight. Here we are in Florida where it’s completely flat, and the strength in that part of the world is beyond description. Well, not entirely! I painted it all.

Mountain Spring

It’s so sweet in the mountains when the last snow melts, and flowers spring up to herald in the warmer weather.

River Run

Here I am in Florida, and painting mountains. Ever since I went to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico to spend some time at the very place that Georgia O’Keeffe lived and worked, I’ve been mesmerized by the Southwest, and I’ve been recreating it ever since. Enjoy!

Totemic River Song

This is another painting I created from a photograph of beautiful handpainted fabric. It jump-started me back into painting after a two year hiatus during which time I  designed one-of-a-kind neckart. I’m finding this method pretty exciting, and possibly it will carry me into the future as well.

Spring Thaw

I took some photos in a boutique. An artist had designed and hand painted some fabulous silk outfits that were hanging all together so the colors and designs were scrumptious, and so inviting. When I saw the prints, I had an idea, and turned the photos on their side, and I was able to imagine landscapes. This is the first one I did, using a great deal of imagination, and hope, that it would work the way I wanted it to. What do you think?
