I’ve been eating with chopsticks since I was 12 years old, and have never stopped: so it was no surprise that when I had the opportunity to visit China in 2003, I jumped at the chance. It was so thrilling. (And the food was extraordinary!) The biggest impression left with me was the dichotomy of the old and new.(and riding in a rickshaw in Bejing!) The young people are very Westernized,but never forget their roots or customs. ( I gained 11 pounds mostly on a cruise on the Yangtze River, and fortunately lost it when I got home!!!)
